Our Team
Teaching throughout New Zealand

Our instructors are responsible for running our training centres across New Zealand. They are committed to providing a great Shaolin Kung Fu experience to our students and undergo training, certification and vetting. This is so they have the skills and support needed to run the training centre and teach Kung Fu.

The term for instructor we use is Gowlian () which is the Chinese term for coach or instructor. Those with the title of Sifu (師父) have a senior role in the system. Sifu means ‘teacher-father’ and denotes the responsibility they have within the Kung Fu ‘family’.

The Instructors form the ‘Instructor committee’ which is chaired by Sifu Garath Roberts. The committee meets bi-monthly for training and operational decision making. All of our instructors take their role seriously and are committed to continual improvement.

Executive Board
Working for our students & communities

The Executive Board structure is defined in the constitution and is comprised of four members who are elected for two-year terms and one UK based member appointed by the Head of Shaolin Gaocan Mun Nam Pai Chuan.

Our Executive Board are responsible for the governance and high-level management of the Shaolin Kung Fu Association. This includes our nation-wide operations, instructor training, policy setting, and the support of our students and training centres.

The Board brings a diverse mix of skills so that our students and training centres get the best support possible.
